  • After our morning flight, we meet our guide at Diyarbakır Airport and board our bus for the Butik Urfa Mardin Diyarbakır Tour. We start the day with a famous breakfast in Diyarbakır. After our breakfast, we begin our tour of the historical city with its artistic stone structures. First, we visit the Diyarbakırlı poet Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı’s Museum House known for the poem “Thirty-five is half of the way.” In this beautiful house with separate spaces for every season, you will see fine examples of the region's civil architecture. After a short break here, we will visit the Ulu Mosque, the first in Anatolia and the 5th Harem-i Şerif of the Islamic World, and see the Dört Ayaklı Minare (Sheikh Mutahhar Mosque), built in 1500 by Akkoyunlu Kasım Bey. Next, we will see the oldest of the Diyarbakır walls, which is reported to be 9,000 years old, including the Keçi Burcu, Urfa Gate, and Mardin Gate panoramically. We will also photograph the Hevsel Gardens, which, added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2015, has a unique place not only for its agricultural value but also for its cultural and historical significance, located by the banks of the Tigris River. Afterward, we will arrive at On Gözlü Köprü. During the Hıdırellez festival, the locals write their wishes on a piece of cloth and throw it into the Tigris River from this bridge. After taking some photos here, we head towards Şanlıurfa, the City of Prophets, where Hz. Ibrahim (Abraham) is believed to have been born and thrown into the fire, and where Hz. Eyüp (Job) suffered his trials.
  •
  • Upon arriving at Balıklı Göl, one of the first places that come to mind when Şanlıurfa is mentioned, we find it located in the southwest of the city center and known as the place where Prophet Ibrahim fell when he was thrown into the fire. It is among the most visited places in Şanlıurfa with its sacred fish and surrounding historical monuments. After viewing Halil-Ür Rahman (the lake formed where Ibrahim was thrown into the fire) and Ayn Zeliha Lake (believed to be formed from the tears of Nimrod's daughter Zeliha), we will get information from our guide before taking a photo break. We then give free time in Şanlıurfa’s authentic bazaars for guests to purchase local products. After our free time, we head to our hotel. Guests who wish may participate in an extra scheduled Sıra Gecesi to experience the regional culture.

We visit Harran University (Ulu Mosque), Harran Mound, the Castle, the Caravanserai, and the traditional conical dome Harran houses, where we will be a guest in one of the houses. During our visit to the guesthouse, you can take photos while dressed in local attire. After the Harran tour, we visit the Patience Monument of Hz. Eyüp, known for his patience among prophets, where the cave of his trials, the water well believed to have healed him during his illness, and the 'patience stone' where he leaned will be shown. After our visit here, we arrive at Göbeklitepe, located near Örencik Village in Şanlıurfa, which is home to the first temples of civilization and is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. Göbeklitepe, with a history dating back 12,000 years, changed not only regional history but also human history with its discovery, and was featured on the cover of National Geographic magazine under the slogan “The Place Where Religion Was Born.” After receiving historical information from our guide about Göbeklitepe, we say farewell to Şanlıurfa and reach Mardin via Kızıltepe.
  •
  • In Mardin, our first stop will be the Kasımiye Medrese. Built during the Artuqid period and completed in the late 15th century during the reign of Akkoyunlu Sultan Kasım İbn Cihangir, we explore the medrese with information from our guide. Then, we get off the vehicle at the Diyarbakır Gate and begin walking in the old streets of Mardin. In our walk starting at Cumhuriyet Square, we will see Şeyh Çabuk Mosque, Mardin Protestant Church, Latifiye Mosque, Sokulbar (Cattle Market), and the Coppersmiths Bazaar. During our walk, we will visit the Ulu Mosque, a prime example of Artuqid architecture, with our guide. According to records, the Mardin Ulu Mosque has been constructed with two minarets, while the present minaret has been rebuilt in 1888/1889 in a new and eclectic style. After obtaining historical information from our guide and passing under the small tunnels (abbara) connecting the streets, we continue our walk. We will view the Şahtana Mansion, which is recognized as a former PTT building and was built in 1980 by Ermeni Architect Lole for the Şahtana Family. Following that, we will see the Şehidiye Mosque built by Artuqid Sultan Melik Nasreddin Artuk Aslan in the early 13th century and take a short break to have tea and capture magnificent photos with views of the Mesopotamian Plain. After our break, we head to our hotel. Dinner and accommodation will be at the hotel.

  • On the third day of the Uçaklı Gap Tour with Malitur, after having breakfast at the hotel, we head to the Deyrulzafaran Monastery, where the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchs lived. (If there is high traffic in the area, a visit to Mor Gabriel Monastery will be made.) With its living historical appearance, the monastery houses the graves of 52 Syriac Patriarchs. Accompanied by our guide, we will visit Mor Hananyo Church, the House of Saints, the Virgin Mary Church, and the Sun Temple, after which we will have free time. The Deyrulzafaran Monastery, with its commanding view of the Mardin Plain and fascinating architecture, will impress you. After our free time, we continue our trip to Dara Ancient City, located 30 km southeast of Mardin, in Oğuz Village. The Dara Ancient City, composed of structures carved into the rock, which spans a wide area, is one of the most important settlements of Upper Mesopotamia. We explore the Dara Ancient City with our guide. After the Dara Ancient City tour, we proceed to Midyat, the meeting point of religions and languages. In Midyat, we will visit the Midyat Guesthouse, where popular series like Sıla, Hercai, and Ah Bir Bulut Olsam were filmed. After taking wonderful photos during our guesthouse visit, we visit a telkari workshop where the artistic craft of telkari developed by Syriac masters over the years can be seen and purchased. After shopping for telkari, we will have free time to explore the historical Midyat Houses. After our free time, we meet our bus waiting for us in the bazaar and move towards Hasankeyf. Hasankeyf, with a history dating back 12,000 years, has seen the establishment of a new settlement 3 km away due to the Ilısu Dam's construction. During our visit to Hasankeyf, which was submerged in February 2020, we will share in its sadness as we view the still majestic Hasankeyf Castle, the secret water tunnel, El Rızık Mosque's minaret, and its caves. We will have free time here. (If time permits, an additional Hasankeyf boat tour may be arranged.) Later, we will return to Diyarbakır, passing through Batman and viewing the first oil wells in Turkey and panoramic oil pumps, bidding farewell to the enchanting Mesopotamian lands we have explored.
