- SIWA OASIS
- Breakfast at the hotel. At the time determined by our guide, we depart the hotel for the Half-Day Siwa Tour. In this tour, we first visit the Shali Castle, built of mud bricks on top of the city by the Berbers in the 12th century, and the old city inside it. The reason the Berbers built the city within walls was to protect themselves against both the desert climate and enemies. In 1926, during three days of excessive rain, part of the city suffered damage, and the people moved outside the walls. Today, with ongoing restorations, these historical structures are beginning to regain their former glory. The narrow streets here are lined with mud-brick shops, boutique hotels, and cafes, providing you with unique photo opportunities. Then, we visit the Mountain of the Dead, which houses thousands of years old tombs from the Late Pharaohs period. (Entrance fee is included.) Next, we visit the Temple of Aghurmi, dedicated to the Sun God Amon-Ra, built by the Pharaohs who came to the region around 2000 BC. (Entrance fee is included.) Although the temple has not survived well, it will help you understand the era of the Pharaohs. Later, we go to the Salt Lake where we enter the turquoise blue salt ponds. With a salt content of 95%, it is nearly impossible to sink in the lake, making you feel like you are floating. The therapeutic properties of the water are known to be beneficial for skin diseases, rheumatism, sinusitis, eye diseases, and more, and it provides a unique opportunity for skin care. The calmness and relaxation the dense salty water provides will allow you to recharge with positive energy. Because of the proven benefits of the Salt Lakes and its untouched geography, Siwa was recognized as a World Health and Eco-Tourism Center in 2017. After our enjoyable swimming break, we will go to the Cleopatra Pool in the Juba Thermal Spring to cleanse ourselves of the salt. It is believed this natural stone pool was used by Cleopatra during her travels to Siwa and got its name from her. After our delightful and interesting tour, we return to our hotel to rest.
